The Kiwanis Club of Orofino decided unanimously in July of 2001 to support the community with the planning and building of a new swimming pool and community center. It was decided that the committee should not do the actual work, but that its role was to get the whole community involved and working together to make the complex happen. Jack Crites, Bob Davis, Dennis Harper and Mike Butler are the original committee members who met and formulated the three functioning committees: Public Relations, Fundraising, and Facility Design. The community was then invited to get involved in the three committees. Through this process, the project has been named the Clearwater Community Complex. It is the intention of the steering committee to follow through with the project until it is completed.
